... is created when sunlight shines on the rainbow prism.
  • From the inside to the outside, the spectral colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet (solar spectrum) are visible.
  • You can create a rainbow by hanging the prism as high as possible in a window.
  • It is mounted in a cork or wooden frame to protect it from damage.
  • The prism is hung with a leather strap on a window hook that is supplied.
  • A round rainbow will then be visible on the opposite wall.
    The position of the rainbow changes with the movement of the sun.

The idea for the Rainbow Prism ...


... I already had years ago, when my children were still small. At that time we had a normal prism, a so-called sun prism. It threw a nice spectral stripe into the room.
"How can I pull the spectral stripe apart to form an arc?" I asked myself, "That would have to be a super effect".
So the idea was born to simply bend the elongated prism into an arc.

I realized this idea with Thomas, a precision mechanic friend whom we called Halligalli because he was always up for a joke. Thomas turned a prism ring from a thick Plexiglas plate, which we divided in the middle. After that, we had to polish the surfaces, which was quite exhausting.

The result was fantastic: placed in the sun, we projected a great rainbow on the office wall.


Everyone who saw this rainbow asked where it came from. When they saw the rainbow prism, there was only one opinion: "You absolutely had to produce and market that!"

There was only one problem. It was too thick, much too voluminous. So it could not be produced in larger quantities at a price that was in line with the market. It absolutely had to be made narrower!

Here are some more tips for the optimal rainbow experience


  • The rainbow prism works best
       when the sun is low in the sky.
  • The clearer the sunshine,
       the more brilliant the round rainbow.
  • In summer, place it optimally
       in an east window east window (sunrise) or
       in a west window west window (sunset).
  • In winter, because of the low sun the sun is low,
       it also works well in a south window.
  • The rainbow prism has two sides:
    The side with the steeper prism faces
    should face the sun/window side.



  • You can hang the rainbow prism by means of the holes
    and a thread or stick it to the window pane
    with double-sided tape (preferably transparent).
  • You will get the best rainbows from a distance of about 3 m.
  • Directly behind the rainbow prism, the split colors still overlap and the result is still quite dull.
  • The rainbow is most brilliant in a dark room area or when the rainbow falls through an open door into a darker room.
  • The direction of the rainbow colors is like that of a double (second) rainbow:
    blue is at the top and red is at the bottom.

Tips for setting up or hanging


  • Place your prism on the windowsill,
       so that it is in the sun.
  • Use the double stick dots to stick it to the window pane.
    Tip: Stick it as high as possible.
            Then the rainbow will come out best.
    Note: The surfaces must be very clean and free of grease to hold well. To be on the safe side, you can use the mounting cord as a safety cord.


It is best to hang your prism on a window using the leather strap and the window hook:

  • Use the window hook (included in the scope of delivery).
  • With two window hooks, the prism will not twist as much.
  • If you also attach window hooks to other windows, you can also hang the prism around. Always where the sun is shining in the window.
  • If the sun shines into the window at an angle, you can also hang the prism at an angle so that it faces the sun better.
  • Try out the best prism position for your environment.
