... I already had years ago, when my children were still small. At that time we had a normal prism, a so-called
sun prism. It threw a nice spectral stripe into the room.
"How can I pull the spectral stripe apart to form an arc?" I asked myself, "That would have to be a super effect".
So the idea was born to simply bend the
elongated prism into an arc.
I realized this idea with Thomas, a precision mechanic friend whom we called Halligalli because he was always up for a joke. Thomas turned a prism ring from a thick Plexiglas plate, which we divided in the middle. After that, we had to polish the surfaces, which was quite exhausting.
The result was fantastic: placed in the sun, we projected a great rainbow on the office wall.
Everyone who saw this rainbow asked where it came from. When they saw the rainbow prism, there was only one opinion: "You absolutely had to produce and market that!"
There was only one problem. It was too thick, much too voluminous. So it could not be produced in larger quantities at a price that was in line with the market. It absolutely had to be made narrower!
I hope you can enjoy your rainbows as much as I do, your
